About Us

The Valley Prevention & Treatment Center offers professional mental health services in the San Fernando Valley. We offer a caring and nurturing environment where we can assist clients to overcome dysfunction in their lives. We are proud to offer bi-cultural, bilingual services for the Latino community.

We are a registered Outpatient Alcohol & Drug Treatment Facility with the State of California. Our alcohol & drug facilitators are certified to practice alcohol and drug counseling in California.

Our Batterers’ Intervention Program (BIP) is approved by the Los Angeles County Department of Probation and the Courts. All Domestic Violence facilitators are approved by the Los Angeles County Department of Probation.

All our therapists and social workers are either licensed or registered as interns with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Our mission is to provide a safe, friendly, compassionate environment where people can seek to heal. We believe in healing hearts as we each seek to discover our destiny.

We maintain a dedication to the community and offer affordable pricing for our services. For clients who subscribe to more than one type of therapy, we offer discounted pricing as well.

Our Team

Silvia E. Hernandez, LCSW

Clinical Director

Silvia E. Hernandez received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California in 1989. Since the inception of her professional career, Mrs. Hernandez demonstrated a strong commitment to providing services to individuals and communities in need. As a result, she promoted and assisted in the establishment of resources for HIV+/AIDS Latino families at the “Comprehensive Maternal and Child HIV/AIDS Program” at Los Angeles County Medical Center. She became a strong spokesperson for Latinos, both locally and internationally. Mrs. Hernandez has extensive clinical expertise, both as a clinician and as clinical director. Together with Dr. Vivino Páez, she has developed several outpatient mental health clinics in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles area.

Vivino Páez, MFTI

Outreach Director

Vivino Páez received a Master’s of Degree in Psychology in 2005 from Phillips Graduate Institute, Encino, California. He received a Medical Doctor Degree in 1988 in La Habana, Cuba, and later became a psychiatrist in 1993. It was while practicing in his native city of San Cristobal that Dr. Páez developed a strong commitment to treating individuals and families impacted by a wide variety of mental health conditions with dignity and respect. His approach involved providing care in a personal and caring manner, not only to the individual but to families and local communities. Since his practice began as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern in 2005, Dr. Páez, utilizing the platform of his previous professional experience, has developed a client-centered model where varied and effective clinical approaches are utilized to promote healing.
